6 Mile Run Reservoir is a wet a great place to ride, hike, and enjoy
Six Mile Run Reservoir (Somerset, NJ) is just a great "unknown" park in central Jersey. Jami and I decided to go hike it up today, and check this place out on foot. Too bad that the labyrinth of trails turned us around a good bit, where we got a bit lost :) Well.. not lost. Read on and you'll understand :)

We parked in the lot next to the soccer fields on Rt 27. You can take a look at that map here. We took the trail that is in the corner opposite of the entrance to the lot.

With a few turns we found ourselves in the open power wire field. We followed the trail across this open area, back into the woods, and i took a left at the next intersection. From the last time I was here, I knew I needed to stay on the furthest trail to the left to avoid the maze of crazy ass trails on the "right" side of the park.

A few minutes after we started walking we hit a large road block. Since it was cold out we did not want to get too wet just yet. So we turned around and headed back to the previously mentioned fork.

Now we are stuck walking through this maze of trails. You can get turned around in this place if you do not have a map or a guide. We, or course, got turned around.

After over an hour, we finally got to this path. We figured we could head towards the road that we could see at the end, and walk back to our cars on the road. But no. We hit a river. Greeeaaaat.

So we headed back onto a new trail. It was the other end of the "left" trail that Jaimi and I could not follow because of the mud. By this point we didn't care about any mud. It had been a few hours. We were cold and tired. Time to just plow through any mud, go back!

Now we can just retrace our original steps and get back to the truck.

Overall, our walk rocked. I def just want to go back with someone who knows the trails a bit more.
