Camping Day 1 - Hiking Hacklebarney State Park
Before getting up to Green Valley Beach Family Campground, we stopped off for some hiking at a park a I had never even heard of, Hacklebarney State Park (Long Valley, NJ). This park was just beautiful. Everything was well maintained and clean.. it was just a great place to visit.

After checking out the main lot, we followed the trail down to a stair case to our left. We walked down, and right back up it again.

Once we came back up the stairs we made a left (continuing the same direction we first started). A short bit down the paved trail, it splits. We followed the trail left, down to the waterfall we heard about,

We wanted to continue on the same trail we had taken down to this area. That trail crossed over the waterfall and up a small hill. We made a B-line up the hill and met up with the trail once again.
There where stairs?

Following this trail will bring you right down near the river. We found a little picnic area and hung out for a bit.

We finally reached a little area that we could stop. A small stream came through with a nice bridge. Very scenic.

This area was definitely my favorite area of the park. The Black River dropped over some rocks, and squeezed between 2 large boulders. The movement in the water along with the hills on both sides just made this area perfect.

Shortly after this area the trail head up a hill away from the river. At the top of the hill the trail turns right.. but we did not see it do so. We followed a path left and found a dead end.

We turned around and headed back on the trail. It wrapped down to a nice bridge, and then up a large hill, past a playground, and back to the original fork in the trail we head found in the beginning of our walk.
