Kymers, Wild West City, and a creepy campground
So this past weekend I headed up north to attempt to get some hiking in. That did not work out, but I was able to check out a few campgrounds.

I would really like to get over to Wild West City (Stanhope, NJ) one day to really look around. But the entrance fee is almost for adults. A bit too much as just a goof trip ya know. Maybe next time.

After quickly checking out WWC, we headed north to the Newton area. A "Camping in NJ" flyer mentioned a few campsites. The first one we found was called Harmony Ridge Campground (Branchville, NJ).
Harmony Ridge sounded great in the brochure, but I must say I was let down a good bit. The main office smelled really bad. Like a mix of dog poo and throw up. The grounds were really not well kept. The roads would not have been travelable by a normal car without a trucks clearance. They just all seemed to be washed away. There were a lot of spots, but there was only one bathroom, and it was not very close. I would recommend too avoid this place. But thats just my opinion.

I wish I could have gotten better shots of the play ground. There was a rusty boat, rusty equipment.. if I had kids they would NOT be playing here.

Just a mosquito breeding ground in the making

The cabins seemed very nice. They were clean (looking), and didn't smell like ass in anyway. But with other feelings, I still don't think I would stay here.
The smaller cabin.
Taken in the kitchen, looking towards the loft

The larger cabin. Sleeps 6+

The loft is a few feet high, but wouldn't be bad for kids to sleep

Our last stop was Kymer’s Camping Resort (Branchville, NJ). I have stayed here a few times and have always liked it. The spots are a pretty decent size, and I have never really had issues with loud people. But, I have also always gone on off times.. like before memorial day and after labor day.
