Trip to Detroit
I was sent to Detroit for some training that just wasn't needed. The trip wasn't a total waste. I was able to see a bit of downtown Detroit and a rather interesting new printing press.

The printing facility
The Detroit News built a MAJOR printing facility that was printing their first few issues ever. This new monster is over 450 feet long and over 6 stories tall. This main room I am in houses 3 printing presses, each being able to push out 70,000 sections an hour. There was also an identical room to the left of with the same equipment and ability to push out just as many sections.

Making the plates
One of the plates before it heads out to the printing machines

This machine delivers the plates to specific bins spread across 2 floors
The papers are lifted up to the ceiling, over the machine, and into the next room where it gets bundled
In the basement they control all the paper. This is the 1st of 6 levels of this machine
